sports equal…giving an assist.

Dime Sports: Assisting sports participation by providing sports balls at a lower cost.

Jeff Tiani was around 17 years old when he realized the powerful impact that playing sports had on his life, and he observed that the kids who didn’t play sports lacked some of the traits he was realizing through sport. “Playing sports makes you learn to push yourself. Everyone that has played a sport has learned that you can do something that you didn’t think you could. Whether it’s a coach pushing you or a teammate, it’s a given that you are going learn you have more potential than you realize.” Playing a lot of baseball as a kid also taught Jeff lessons around failure. “Learning to pick yourself up from failure, and being okay with it, was something I had to learn, especially in the sport of baseball where you are unsuccessful seven out of ten times at the plate.”

This year, after much research and planning, Jeff and his wife publicly launched Dime Sports, a company that aims to get high quality balls into the hands of athletes, at a more affordable price. Dime Sports was named after an assist in basketball, and the selfless act of giving an assist to those who are not as fortunate as you. And the 13 stars that are included in the Dime Sports logo? “That’s a shout-out to my dad, who wore the number 13 all throughout high school,” says Jeff.

The idea for Dime Sports came to Jeff when he went to purchase a high quality basketball for the adult leagues he started playing in post-college. “At 25, I became obsessed with basketball and was really enjoying playing 5 on 5 runs; one of the guys on the team had a quality ball that we played with, and when I went to purchase one for myself, I was shocked at how much they cost.” While also learning that cost is the limiting factor for many kids to participate in sports, Jeff decided to research what it would take to produce a high quality ball at a lower cost.

After two years of development, Dime Sports now has a basketball and a soccer ball in their line-up with more to come. “We are already researching other balls and will definitely be expanding our product line. We are excited about the feedback we are getting from people who have purchased balls from us and know that we have a great product.”

“Getting a ball is exciting, like a new pair of sneakers. The Dime ONE comes in awesome branded custom packaging with a signed thank you note, invitation to connect on social media and a free inflation needle.”

The Tianis have also been thoughtful about their customer’s experience. “Getting a ball is exciting, like a new pair of sneakers. The Dime ONE comes in awesome branded custom packaging with a signed thank you note, invitation to connect on social media and a free inflation needle.”

Jeff and his wife have pledged a dime for every dollar of profit their company earns, and they chose Every Kid Sports as their beneficiary. “I started doing some research on organizations that are helping kids play sports, and thought Every Kids Sports had a unique approach with the Pass program. Lots of organizations help with equipment and other needs, but Every Kids Sports was the only organization I found that was covering sports registration fees and doing it across the nation.”

We are excited to follow the growth of Dime Sports and appreciate the Tianis’ efforts to make sports more affordable. Thank you for your support!
