Flag Football is more than just a game for Peter.
Peter, an 8-year-old from Bellevue, Nebraska, has found more than just a sport in flag football—he’s found a community, mentors, and a path to personal growth. Peter’s father is incarcerated, and as his mother, Liz, shares, “Peter has grown up without that father figure in the home, but through sports, he has found some amazing mentors in his coaches.” These mentors have become role models, helping him learn lessons that extend far beyond the football field.
Through football, Peter has developed important life skills. “The lessons he has learned through sports extend well beyond the field,” Liz says. On the field, Peter has learned how to be a team player, a leader, and a friend. These qualities have shaped him into a more confident and resilient young boy.

Liz, Peters’ mom
Peter, who takes a bit more time to learn new skills compared to his peers, has impressed his mom with his progress. “It has been amazing watching his football journey. This season has been his best so far—and we’re only halfway through!” Liz proudly shares. Each game is an opportunity for Peter to learn, grow, and celebrate his accomplishments.
When asked what he’s most excited about this season, Peter’s answer is simple: “Learning new skills.” He is always eager to improve, reflecting his growing passion for the game. And looking to the future, Peter dreams of becoming a football coach. “I want to be a football coach when I grow up,” he says, a dream inspired by the incredible coaches who have guided him on and off the field.
