Head of Development

Every Kid Sports is on a mission to find and facilitate the funding that helps kids from income-restricted families participate in youth sports so they, too, can experience the positive benefits of playing. Core to our fulfillment of this mission is a highly skilled Head of Development to help lead this important undertaking.

Position Overview

In collaboration with the Executive Director, this position will set the organization’s strategic fundraising agenda to achieve and exceed its revenue goals through the solicitation of grants and contracts, as well as individual, corporate and  foundation gifts.  This mission and culture-aligned leader will not only understand current trends in sports, youth sports, and business operations but will also have experience in developing and implementing a successful fundraising plan. This is an ideal opportunity for a proven, fearless, and values-driven nonprofit fundraiser who’s highly motivated to work collaboratively in pursuit of big goals, and to grow as both a fundraiser and a leader.

Position Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Management
  • Create and lead the strategy for a portfolio of annual and major gifts prospects
  • Manage a portfolio of six-figure prospects and develop customized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for each

Donor Relations and Sponsorship Outreach

  • Proven track record in cultivating and managing relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations. 
  • Develop and execute sponsorship outreach strategies, fostering long-term partnerships that align with Every Kid Sports’ mission. 

Mission-Driven

  • Align with and passionately advocate for Every Kid Sports’ mission and values.
  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of children through sports.

Sales Process Operations

  • Build and refine the organization’s sales process from the ground up, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and the organization’s mission and values.
  • Identify and pursue new revenue streams and strategic partnerships to support programmatic goals
  • Build a culture of Hubspot utilization to track and evaluate key metrics, and use meaningful data to continually improve practices and inform decisions.

Relationship Management

  • Collaborate and manage relationships across departments, working closely with program, marketing, and finance teams to ensure alignment and integration. 
  • Act as a liaison between Every Kid Sports and external partners, fostering positive and long-lasting relationships

Nonprofit Fundraising (recommended)

  • Bring a wealth of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a deep understanding of best practices, donor cultivation, and stewardship. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and execute effective fundraising campaigns and initiatives. 

Partnerships

  • Lead efforts to identify, negotiate, and establish partnerships with organizations that share a commitment to youth sports and Every Kid Sports’ goals. 
  • Collaborate with potential partners to develop mutually beneficial programs and initiatives.

Position Skills and Qualifications

  • Leverage a minimum of 8 years of sales experience to drive revenue growth and fundraising efforts for Every Kid Sports
  • Minimum of 8 years of a proven track record of success in building, managing, and leading teams.
  • Strong understanding of and affinity for mission-driven organizations, preferably in the nonprofit sector. 
  • Experience being an independent contributor in a start-up environment. 
  • Experience in developing and implementing successful sales processes. 
  • Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to streamline donor and partner communications and track interactions effectively. 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and make recommendations best suited to the values and mission of the organization. 
  • Communicate this passion effectively and authentically to engage stakeholders in supporting Every Kid Sports
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. 
  • Proven ability to manage across departments and collaborate effectively with diverse teams. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate our mission and purpose to the world. 
  • Energetic, positive, and capable of thriving in a dynamic environment. 
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and their effective utilization. 
  • Passion for sports and a commitment to Every Kid Sports’ mission. 
  • Attention industry conferences and travel as necessary. 
  • B.A. in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field. 
  • Energetic and Multifaceted; bring high energy and enthusiasm to the role, inspiring colleagues and partners alike. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to wear multiple hats and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. 
  • Showcase solid closing skills, with a proven track record of successfully securing significant financial commitments
  • Implement effective techniques to move potential donors and partners through the sales funnel. 
  • People Skills; be a people person with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Engage with diverse stakeholders, including donors, board members, and volunteers, to build a strong network of support. 
  • Passion for Sports and Youth Development; display a genuine love for sports and a belief in the transformative power for youth development. 

Compensation Package

Base salary: $110,000

  • Remote work arrangements are considered for the right candidate. We are based in Bend, Oregon; interested parties in the Central Oregon region are required to come into the Bend office. Remote work for candidates outside the region can be arranged based on organizational fit.
