Reflecting on 2024: Stories of Growth, Resilience, and Joy in Play
As 2024 comes to a close, we are inspired and humbled by the incredible journeys of the kids and families Every Kid Sports has supported this year. Through their own words, these stories remind us of the transformative power of sports, not just on the field, rink, or court, but in the lives and futures of these kids.
Fostering Dreams and Ambitions
Sports are a launchpad for dreams and aspirations. Mi’Kerria, a 15-year-old track and field athlete from Georgia, is focused on her future: “I plan on going to college to become an OBGYN. Hopefully, I could get a full ride from sports such as track or flag football.”
Strengthening Families and Communities
For parents, the joy of watching their children grow through sports is profound. Karis, a 12-year-old soccer player from Maryland, had her first outdoor season this year, becoming a star on the field. Her mom, Keshia, expressed her gratitude: “Thank you, Every Kid Sports, for all that you do!”
Building Confidence and Resilience
For eight-year-old Katia from Florida, getting to play softball has been life-changing. Her mom, Tyra, shared: “Since playing softball her attitude has changed and her grades went up drastically. She speaks to her coaches with so much respect that it shocks me every time. I love watching her confidence when she gets on that field.”
A “Never Give Up” Attitude
Twin ice skaters Alanah and Alayah from Maryland embraced the lessons of resilience taught through skating. Their mom, Tynigya, explained: “District Impact coaches instill resilience and a never-give-up attitude. They emphasize how falling is a part of the sport, which helps skaters bounce back with renewed determination.”
